You can still choose your provider. For 2026/27, NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB agrees a yearly plan with each independent provider that limits how many assessments it funds, so providers may delay new appointment dates.
What the ICB says (April 2026)
- Providers can still accept your referral and add you to their waiting list.
- Providers may pause or delay new ADHD or autism appointment dates to stay within their yearly plan. This can change during the year.
- If you're already in treatment, you won't be discharged and medication reviews continue to be funded.
- Switching provider may not shorten your wait. The ICB doesn't hold queue positions; ask your provider.
What you can do
- Ask providers about current availability for patients in this ICB before you see your GP.
- Get referred to the provider with the best realistic wait. A referral holds your place.
- Use support while you wait through Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust's ADHD and autism information.
